The Ed & Charlotte Rodgers Scholarship Fund was established by the Alabama Road Builders Association in 1978 to promote excellence in Alabama’s transportation construction industry. Since its inception, the fund annually awards grants to students with exceptional pre-engineering academic standings. Thanks to the Rodgers' family, this trust was established for the sole purpose of enhancing the field of civil engineering across the state of Alabama. Students eligible to apply for the Rodgers scholarship must be enrolled full-time in civil engineering at an accredited Alabama engineering school, have completed their sophomore year, have satisfactory grade point average and are in good academic standing with the university. Scholarships are awarded in consideration of accomplishments in student, community, honorary or service organizations, excellence in academics, and demonstrated leadership qualities.Award recipients are based on recommendations from the Ed & Charlotte Rodgers Scholarship committee comprised of volunteer ARBA members. The 2024 committee consisted of Mike Terrell, Chairman (Scott Bridge Company), Sonny Bunn (ST Bunn Construction Company), Chris Jones (Ozark Striping), Chris Newell (Newell Roadbuilders), and Michael Weaver (H.O. Weaver & Sons). Proceeds from the ARBA golf tournaments fund the scholarship program. ARBA is proud of the member participation and sponsorships we experienced at the 2024 Fall Golf tournament at the Arrowhead Country Club in Montgomery and 2024 Spring Fling at The Ledges in Huntsville, which made for an increase in our scholarship awards to $2,500 each this year. |
