On December 3, 2015, the U.S. Congress overwhelmingly approved legislation—the “Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act” (FAST Act)—that reauthorized the federal surface transportation programs through FY 2020.
Over the past 10 years, these programs have funded, on average, about 66 percent of the Alabama Department of Transportation’s annual outlays for road construction, planning and design work and right-of-way acquisitions. President Obama signed the bill into law the next day.
Enactment of this legislation follows years of hard advocacy work by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), the Alabama Road Builders Association (ARBA), and other industry leaders.
ARTBA is producing an analysis for all the state chapters and naturally we are first. Please take a look at how the FAST Act will impact Alabama and comments back to ARBA
